Hello and welcome to my site. My name is Rebecca (you can read more about me in the “About Rebecca” page) and I live in Sydney, Australia. I moved here 10 years ago with my husband and oldest child (my second was born here) for a 6 month adventure. In the beginning I found it very hard to settle, not having any local family support, making raising my first child tough. With my husband working long hours I spent the first 7 years of life in Sydney as a stay at home mum. It was wonderful having the opportunity to raise my children and exploring the city and surrounds. Once both children started school I found myself a little lost, and decided it was time to enter the world of work again.
I started working in a retirement village as a wellness coordinator, which I love. Although I do not spend my days nursing anymore, I offer an important service, ensuring the wellbeing of my 400+ residents. I provide wellness programs, advice, education, care, help and support in order for them to live well.
Over 15% of the Australian population is over 65 years old, with this figure continuing to grow steadily. I feel older people are often overlooked, with consideration and attitudes not always improving in the community.
My goal with his blog is to provide you, the reader with useful and easy to read content. I aim to undertake extensive research on topics so that you don’t have to; and use the groundwork to produce clear, transparent blogs in order to alleviate confusion. I am looking to create a simple way forward, empowering you to live your best life. Everyone should lead positive, happy lives and I am hoping to help you achieve this. I believe everyone should be able to get the most out of life. Sydney is such a wonderful place to live with so much to offer, but navigating Sydney and services available can be complicated. I aim to provide the tools to make a difference.
As I am just starting out on this journey I would love to hear from you if you have ideas or suggestions. Please feel free to comment on posts, use the contact page, or join the conversation on my Facebook page.
