The Art Gallery of New South Wales has put together an excellent online platform for its members whilst temporarily closed due to covid-19 lockdown. I recently posted their Archibald 2021 virtual tour which was wonderful viewing. This time they have gone the extra mile and produced a series of online jigsaw puzzles for you to complete, featuring a visually stunning selection of artworks from their collection.

You can modify the jigsaw using the menu that pops up when you first click on the link. I have created a legend to help you know what each of the icons does. You can increase difficulty by changing the number of pieces, ranging from 6 to 1008 or rotate the pieces randomly (they all start in the correct orientation).
To complete the jigsaws below all you need to do is click on the title at the bottom of each of the 7 images.
I hope you enjoy completing them as much as I did. With most shops closed and little opportunity to purchase items at the moment, it is great to find activities to occupy time and engage the brain. The great thing about these online jigsaws is that you don’t end up with a thousand pieces scattered across the dining table for weeks at a time, which is what usually happens in our house.
Featured Jigsaws from the Art Gallery of NSW
George Lambert ‘Holiday in Essex’, 1910 E Phillips Fox ‘Nasturtiums’, circa 1912 Louis Buvelot ‘At Lilydale’, 1870 Dorrit Black ‘Mirmande (with surrounding hills)’, 1934 Charles Conder ‘Rainy Day’, 1888 Philippe Jacques de Loutherbourg ‘A Shipwreck of a Rocky Coast’, 1760’s Paul Cezanne ‘Banks of the Marne’, circa 1888
If you enjoy these jigsaws the website Jigsaw Explorer also allows you to create jigsaws from your own photos. To have a go for yourself, just click the 3 lines in the top left of the screen and select ‘open photo as puzzle’ from the drop down menu.
